INSET days for schools and colleges developing PLTS.

Tomorrow's Learning offers INSET days for schools and colleges developing PLTS. Each INSET day is tailored to the school's precise needs, so ensuring no two days are alike. Whilst some schools want INSET days to introduce PLTS to teachers, other schools require strategies to embed and sustain PLTS. We are happy to discuss your training requirements to ensure an active, highly relevant day for your teachers.

Graham Watts, lead trainer at Tomorrow's Learning, published the best selling PLTS teacher resource "Personal Learning and Thinking Skills at Key Stage 3: Thirty lesson plans with activities and assessment". Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills are at the heart of the 11- 19 curriculum in England. The framework provided by the Department for Education tells us that the 6 groups of skills are:

• independent enquirers
• creative thinkers
• reflective learners
• team workers
• self-managers
• effective participants.

Each group of skills is distinctive and coherent. The groups are also interconnected and learners are likely to encounter skills from several groups in any one learning experience. For example, an independent enquirer sets goals for their research with clear success criteria (reflective learner) and organises their time and resources effectively to achieve these goals (self-manager). To develop independence, learners need to apply skills from all six groups in a wide range of contexts.
